Swim with a mermaid on today's zipaDee-ZOOM yoga!

We had 17 yogis join the fun!!🧘 

What's your favorite thing to do at the beach?  Some folks said swimming, collecting shells, looking for hermit crabs, boogie boarding

3 Deep Breaths holding hands over your ears to hear the ocean

Deep Breaths holding hands in Conch Shell Mudra: "The right hand is the "hot dog bun." (hold the hand out, palm up) The left thumb is the "hot dog." (Place the left thumb across the palm of the right hand.) Wrap the fingers around the hot dog.  Bring the left pointer finger to touch the tip of the right thumb.  The rest of the fingers on the left hand wrap around behind the right knuckles.  Holding your hands like this may create a sense of being safe and sound."

Watch the Ocean Waves🌊 -- sitting on bum, knees tented and drop side to side (like windshield wipers)

Ooh!  I SEE a SEA turtle🐢! -- Tortoise Pose (not too deep a stretch, still warming the body)

And there are crabs🦀 running on the beach! -- walk your Reverse Table Top to be a crab

Build a sand castle🏰 -- Downward Facing Dog

Put on sunscreen -- Self-Massage

Sun Salutations🌞 to warm the body for s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g and strengthening

Surf the waves🏄 in your Warrior 2 Pose

Go for a swim🏊 -- Locust Pose

Pick up some neat shells🐚, put him in your bucket -- Boat Pose

Yoga for YOU

Here's a yoga sequence you can do to warm up the body or as a stand alone practice when you have a few minutes to s-t-r-e-t-c-h, strengthen, breathe, and balance!

Begin in MOUNTAIN -- Breathe IN and Breathe OUT

Breathe IN as you lift your arms overhead

EXHALE as you CACTUS your arms and work a small back bend

INHALE reach arms back high to the sky



Breathe OUT -- FOLD

Breathe IN as you walk back to PLANK


 Take a Breathe IN as you stretch the tail of the dog (THREE-LEGGED DOG)

Breathe OUT as you pull the knees to chest
(you can simultaneously reach the head to knee for more stretch in the back)
Repeat this stretch and tuck three more times (three full breaths) and on the fourth TAIL OF THE DOG (INHALE). . .

pull the leg through (EXHALE) for a


Breathe IN -- your version of LOW CRESCENT LUNGE
(you can have hands framing the forward foot or hands on the knee, or hands reaching to the sky)

Rock back to HALF SPLIT on the breath OUT
Repeat this rocking back and forth from LOW CRESCENT to HALF SPLIT for three times (three full breaths)

On the fourth LOW CRESCENT LUNGE (breath IN), EXHALE and take the forward foot to the back foot for DOWNWARD FACING DOG (Breath IN and OUT, several breaths--if you would appreciate a CHILD'S POSE here, go for it!) To continue, Breathe IN and then



Breathe OUT -- FOLD

Root your feet, squeeze your tummy, and REVERSE SWAN DIVE on the breath IN

EXHALE and rest arms by your side to begin the fun on the other side of the body!  It takes me about five minutes to work this through both sides of the body.  You could do this sequence three times for a good fifteen minute practice.  Roll out your yoga mat, and give it a try!🧘#zipaDeeBee

Rainbow YOGAme

Wanna find some gold at the end of the rainbow🌈?  
Play Mrs. Broam's YOGAme!

You roll a dice to determine which yoga pose to do for each part of the practice!  I divided the yoga practice into 6 parts:
Red -- Breathe
Orange -- Warm
Yellow -- Work
Green -- Balance
Blue -- Cool
Purple -- Rest

So for ORANGE -- Warming Up the Body -- I rolled a 6.  

In this yoga practice we're creating, we'd warm up with the "Flying Cow" sequence!

My husband is better at math, but he tells me there is a possibility of 46,656 practices?! You've got 6 parts to the practice with 6 choices for each part.

improve core strength and posture
increase flexibility and confidence
strengthen mindfulness skills
self-regulate, positively channel energy
learn to relax=improve sleep patterns
have fun while you stay home

RAINBOW Yoga -- zipaDee-PURPLE

Use these practices when you roll a #6 for the following colors!

Red -- Breathe
Treasure Box or Hidden Treasure Mudra
Mudras are typically one sided, not like yoga postures that are practiced on one side and then the other.  Traditionally, the left hand supports the right. In this mudra (yoga for your hands), cup the left hand up in front of the belly button.  Cup the right hand down on top of the left to create the treasure box.  What kind of treasure is hidden within you?  Use this mudra when you want to feel gratitude for who you are or wish to discover what gifts you have to share!

Orange -- Warm

inhale -- Fly the Cow🐮

 exhale -- table pose, inhale -- traditional cow🐄

exhale -- child's pose

You neck can tuck to your chest or let your head fall back and rest.

Twist to Transition
Twisted Root
Tent your knees (like in Bridge Pose).  Cross your legs and scoot your hips to the right, dropping your knees to the left.  Reverse the twist.

Purple -- Rest
Toothpaste Tube ~ Squeeze and Release
You are a tube of toothpaste, and there's just a little left!  Target the little bit of paste by squeeze the toes and feet . . . release!  Then squeeze the legs and bum . . . release!  Move the toothpaste further up the tube by squeezing your tummy, chest, shoulders, hands, and arms . . . release! Now neck, face, head  . . .  release and POP?!  The toothpaste squirts out the top of your head, and your whole body is relaxed and ready to rest.🦷
