Mother Goose on the Loose!

Old Mother Goose (an OLD picture of Mrs. Broam as Mother Goose) when she wanted to wander . . . she YOGA-ed at Pisgah CDM!

We began with b-r-e-a-t-h-i-n-g . . .

and tuning in!  You can hear the singing bowl l-o-n-g-e-r the closer you get to it. πŸ˜„

Hickory Dickory Dock!  We read a rhyme and worked a corresponding yoga posture.  With this rhyme, we were mice. 🐭

 Here's three hills ("small" mountains)
for Jack and Jill to climb!

Twinkle,

Twinkle,

Little

🌟🌟🌟Star 🌟🌟🌟

Jack Sprat could eat no . . . WHAT??!!

πŸ‘‘ Old King Cole called for a trio . . .
a pipe, bowl, and his fiddlers three! A triangle has three sides and three corners.

Rock-a-bye, Baby, in the treetop!

We rested using the lavender eye pillows!

"I AM FREE."

In every language, Mother Goose tickles our ears and funnybone!  We enjoyed s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g, strengthening, balancing and breathing with her today.  🐣

Feelings are NATURAL

We explored feelings again this week!

Feelings come in PLEASANT and UNPLEASANT flavors . . .
When I said, "ALL Feelings are . . ." expecting to hear "OKAY!". . . one yogi responded, "Natural." Why, yes they are?!

We considered healthy ways to move feelings, like reading a book . . .
 or dancing to music.
Playing with toys is another option where (1) nobody gets hurt and (2) nothing gets broken.
Here are two rag dolls!

When managing a feeling, you move it one breath at a time . . .
step-by-step, you get the feeling "quieter and quieter and quieter."
 It's like a rainbow . . .
so we made rainbows with the color tablets and . . .
OUR BODIES!

You can feel your feelings in different parts of your body.  Like your eyes can feel heavy when you are sad or tired:
If your tummy aches, it could be a nervous or excited feeling?!
We strengthened our tummies by being a triangle!

Ever feel "pins and needles" in your body? Here's a "pointy" pose . . .

We practiced an L handstand to remember "clenched fists" and "sweaty palms" indicate unpleasant feelings going on in your body:

We finished class with a rest! πŸ’€
EVERYONE was still and quiet during our final relaxation and feelin' groovy after our yoga practice today. 😊

ALL Feelings are OK

They don't ALL feel okay to feel . . . but it is normal and inevitable to feel both PLEASANT and UNPLEASANT feelings.  Yoga is one way to manage your feelings well!

When you are happy, you may feel like a horse kicking her heels . . .

or a bird flying high in the sky!

Sometimes you feel like a busy, buzzy bee!

But sometimes you feel s-l-o-w and l-o-w, l-o-w, l-o-w down . . .

You may only want to watch when days "feel gray."

Here's a cool and quiet fish
deep, deep in the sea.

When you feel angry, you may feel like a volcano . . .

or HOWLING wolf!

To move from your UPSTAIRS brain (a BIG feeling) to your DOWNSTAIRS brain (quiet and calm) . . .
just take one breath, one walk about, one "time-out," one "count-to-ten," one yoga posture at a time!

Rest and . . .

be OK with ALL your Feelings!

Bubble Gum Brains

To BREATHE today, we blew BUBBLES . . .
Breath in . . .
Breath out!

When you have a Bubble Gum Brain, you say, "I'm right on track!"  "I need to practice more!"  "I will keep trying."  A Brick Brain says, "This is way too hard."  "I give up!"  "He's smarter than me."

We learned about being flexible with our thinking by practicing flexibility with our bodies!  Another way to describe a Bubble Gum Brain is someone with GRIT!
is for GROWING!  Consider mistakes as LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES.
A tree grows. Its roots grow deep. Its branches reach high.

Growing happens step-by-step . . .
 like when planting a seed . . .
 and roots grow down . . .
 then a stem shoots up . . .
with many leaves!

is for RESILIENCE.  This is like when a Slinky Dog s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-s
l-o-n-g and then

snaps back to a regular length.  We practiced resilience by moving from dog to plank to dog again!

is for INTEGRITY.  Think "George Washington."
Do your best work, even when nobody is watching.  Be honest.  Be trustworthy.  Complete tasks in a quality way.  It's kind of like SHINING like a STAR:
TWIST, then FOLD . . .
REACH and
STRETCH . . .
 LIFT, UNTWIST and SHINE!

is for TENACITY.  Be tough. Be a WARRIOR.  When we practice WARRIOR 2, it's like SURFING!

After resting,

we practiced Surfer Chick's "One-Footed Thrill!"

It takes GRIT~

Enjoy BREATHING and using your BUBBLE GUM BRAINS!
