Should I Make a Decision?

Decision Making is a l-o-n-g and tedious experience for Elephant . . .

and then sometimes we make choices too quickly . . .

We practiced balance today!

Put just the right amount of time into making a choice with the STAR decision-making model:

Stop Think Act Review
STOP and take a deep breath!

THINK about all the possible choices and the consequences of each.

Choose a possibility with your perceived best outcome and ACT.

REVIEW if the choice worked well or not.

Would you make the same choice with a similar decision in the future?

We relaxed with STARSHINE warming up different parts of our body: chest to shoulder to upper arm to elbow to forearm to wrist to hand . . .

How do you feel at the end of a yoga class?  "Good!"  "Energetic!" "Awesome!"

We closed with finger cymbals. SHINE ON, STAR Yogis!

Listening Looksee and Past Parachuting

Today we thought about what is ON when you are LISTENING!

Your BRAIN is . . .
ON!

 Your EARS are . . .
ON!

Your EYES are . . .
ON!

Your MOUTH is . . .
OFF!

Your HANDS are . . .
OFF!

Your HEART is . . .
ON!

We breathed, worked poses and challenges to strengthen our brain, ears, eyes, and heart.

We tried some partner poses too!

Last week we had fun with a PARACHUTE!

"I love to play with a PARACHUTE!  1, 2, 3, I'll find a toy for me to be . . .
a BUNNY!"

"I love to play with a PARACHUTE!  1, 2, 3, I'll find a toy for me to be . . .
an OWL!"

"I love to play with a PARACHUTE!  1, 2, 3, I'll find a toy for me to be . . .
a CRAB!"

Crab walking can wear a yogi OUT!

"I love to play with a PARACHUTE!  1, 2, 3, I'll find a toy for me to be . . .
a FISH!"

"I love to play with a PARACHUTE!  1, 2, 3, I'll find a toy for me to be . . .

a FROG!"

Our yoga helps us TUNE UP and TUNE IN!
We breathe, move and rest to be ready for whatever fun we have next to do in the world!

There's gonna be problems . . .

In our zipaDEE-Yoga practice this week, we'll be MOGA-ing (Yoga with a Mo Willems Story) to . . .

There's gonna be problems . . . but we are problem SOLVERS!

“Flowers Are Red” by Harry Chapin
https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/harrychapin/flowersarered.html
The little boy went first day of school
He got some crayons and he started to draw
He put colors all over the paper
For colors was what he saw

And the teacher said, "What you doin' young man?"
"I'm paintin' flowers" he said
She said, "It's not the time for art young man
And anyway flowers are green and red"

"There's a time for everything young man
And a way it should be done
You've got to show concern for everyone else
For you're not the only one"

And she said, "Flowers are red young man
And green leaves are green
There's no need to see flowers any other way
Than they way they always have been seen"

But the little boy said
"There are so many colors in the rainbow
So many colors in the morning sun
So many colors in the flower and I see every one"

Well the teacher said, "You're sassy
There's ways that things should be
And you'll paint flowers the way they are
So repeat after me"

And she said, "Flowers are red, young man
And green leaves are green
There's no need to see flowers any other way
Than they way they always have been seen"

But the little boy said
"There are so many colors in the rainbow
So many colors in the morning sun
So many colors in the flower and I see every one"

The teacher put him in a corner
She said, "It's for your own good
And you won't come out 'til you get it right
And are responding like you should"

Well finally he got lonely
Frightened thoughts filled his head
And he went up to the teacher
And this is what he said

And he said
"Flowers are red, and green leaves are green
There's no need to see flowers any other way
Than the way they always have been seen"

Time went by like it always does
And they moved to another town
And the little boy went to another school
And this is what he found

The teacher there was smilin'
She said, "Painting should be fun
And there are so many colors in a flower
So let's use every one"

But that little boy painted flowers
In neat rows of green and red
And when the teacher asked him why
This is what he said

And he said
"Flowers are red, and green leaves are green
There's no need to see flowers any other way
Than the way they always have been seen"

But then his new teacher said:
“There are so many colors in the rainbow
So many colors in the morning sun
So many colors in the flower and WE’LL USE every one!”

I'm in charge of what I think, where I look, what I say, how I feel and what I do . . .
I can SOLVE problems in ways (1) Nobody gets hurt and (2) Nothing gets broken!

I choose to solve problems with a positive attitude! And if I can't . . . I can take a break and many deep breaths until I can.
