Thanksliving

'The heart that gives thanks is a happy one, for we cannot feel thankful and unhappy at the same time.  The more we say thanks, the more we find to be thankful for.  And the more we find to be thankful for, the happier we become.  We don't give thanks because we are happy.  We are happy because we give thanks." ~ The Secret of Saying Thanks by Douglas Wood

As you set the table this Thanksgiving, celebrate gratitude . . .

"for sun and moon and stars and

 rocks and trees and
flowers and waters and

birds and animals and all those who love you, and the love you feel for them."๐Ÿงก

Is the Fox a Friend or Foe?

Ollie, Cassie and Wing are Turkeys who escape Thanksgiving Dinner!๐Ÿฆƒ๐Ÿฆƒ๐Ÿฆƒ  They ski, surf, swim, play baseball, and enjoy life far, far, away from the farm.

When they receive a letter from Chicken about trouble on the farm . . .

they climb mountains and find their way home to the farm!

There was a fox prowling around the chicken coop!!๐ŸฆŠ

Ollie, Cassie, and Wing pretend to be Mick, Mackie, and Moe, famous Hollywood Producers making a film entitled The Mighty Fox. ๐ŸŽž๐Ÿ“ฝ They declare the fox to be perfect for the starring role!๐ŸŒŸ They have him smile, spin around, and practice being angry. Then he's angry for real because they trap him?!๐Ÿ˜ก

The farmers appreciate the turkeys' efforts and have PIZZA for Thanksgiving Diner!๐Ÿ•

Turkey Time

We enjoyed adventures with turkeys today!

Rabbit was invited, but Mrs. Moose wanted a Turkey for Thanksgiving Dinner.๐Ÿ‡

Stretching our turkeys, seated AT the table not ON it.๐Ÿคฃ

We practiced "pizza breath" to think of other choices for the Thanksgiving Day menu?!๐Ÿ•

Toodles the Turkey sat down under a tree to think.๐ŸŒณ

After resting, we created "dot" pictures.  Our yoga calms us and creates pleasant feelings in our bodies, brains, and hearts.  We were able to put that happiness into our pictures at the end of our practice.๐Ÿ˜Š

Next week we will have a fox in our turkey story!!  Dah dah DUM . . . Stay Tuned for more adventures with turkeys?!๐Ÿฆƒ๐ŸฆŠ

Cheetahs are FAST Friends!

Cheetahs live in Africa.  They roam grassy, savannah plains and open forests.

Their upper parts are yellow fur with black spots and their bellies are white.  We are showing off the white-furred bellies in our side plank poses!
Cheetahs hunt during the day.  They eat rabbits, warthogs, birds, antelopes (springboks), and gazelles.  Here we are in rabbit pose.
Cheetahs are social animals.  We practiced partner poses to illustrate this fact! Here's a couple "lizards on rocks."

Here's a "double down dog."
Here is a "double warrior."

Momma cheetahs have 2 - 8 cubs!  Here we are in "happy baby" yoga pose.

We rested the fastest land animal in the world!  A cheetah moves in bursts of 65-75 mph!! Here we are at 0 mph.๐Ÿ’ค

There are 9,000-12,000 cheetahs in the world. (https://www.natgeokids.com/au/discover/animals/general-animals/cheetah-facts/) . Living in harmony with each other and our planet helps cheetahs and other critters thrive.๐ŸŒ

Circle of Control

I'm in charge of what I think, where I look, what I say, how I feel, and what I do!  I am only in charge of my choices.  My choices may affect others' choices.  That's a difference between your "circle of control" and you "circle of influence."◯

S-l-o-t-h F-u-n

We enjoyed learning about sloths this afternoon!

We read a good story and checked out some sloth facts while moving and breathing together!

There are three-toed and two-toed sloths.  All sloths have three claws on the hind legs.  The difference is in their forelimb claws.  Sloths should really be called three-fingered" or "two-fingered."  Three-toed sloths are diurnal, while two-toed ones are nocturnal.  We moved like the sun and moon for each!๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒœ

Both kinds of sloths are descendants of the giant ground sloth that became extinct 10,000 years ago.  This animal weighed several tons and was 12 feet tall!  We worked a pose to be giant like this sloth.

Three-toed sloths do not have cone cells in their eyes and cannot detect color.  We moved like a rainbow for the colors they cannot see.๐ŸŒˆ

Sloths move 6-8 feet per minute . . . do you know any other animals that move s-l-o-w-l-y?๐Ÿข

WARNING: This is a little gross . . .The fact that made us laugh the most is three-toed sloths come down from the trees to poo once a week (or month)!  The do a poo dance, dig a hole, and then lose 1/3 of their body's weight . . . that's a lot of poo??!!  Here's a "poo dancer" pose?!

We rested with a progressive relaxation exercise:  squeeze toes and feet and r-e-l-a-x . . . squeeze your legs, bum, and tummy and r-e-l-a-x . . . squeeze your hands, arms and shoulders and r-e-l-a-x . . . squeeze your face and r-e-l-a-x . . .
