Granddaddy's Bangle

My mom's dad, J.A. Rawls, was a railroad engineer.

As a first grade teacher, my mom dressed up as a "Great American" for a school career day to honor him.  We think this was the mid to late 1990s.

This hymn reminds me of him.

"Life is like a mountain railroad, with an engineer that's brave;

We must make the run successful from the cradle to the grave;

Watch the curves, the fills, the tunnels, never falter, never quail; Keep your hand upon the throttle, and your eye upon the rail.

Blessed Savior, Thou wilt guide us, till we reach the blissful shore,

Where the angels wait to join us

In Thy praise forevermore."

My aunt, uncle, dad, and I sang this at a family reunion when I was little.  I used BRIGHT🌟 colors for this bangle.  It combines family, faith, and the brightness of the future🌟.

This picture was taken in 1991.  I was on my way to my 5th high school reunion.
Granddaddy always felt "rich" because he had his family close.  Granddaddy lived long enough to meet his first great grand. Remember to hold your people close as you "keep your hand upon the throttle, and your eye upon the rail."

For the beauty of the earth, for the beauty of the skies, for the love which from our birth over and around us lies: Christ, our God, to thee we raise this our sacrifice of praise.

For the wonder of each hour of the day and of the night, hill and vale and tree and flow'r, sun and moon and stars of light: Christ, our God, to thee we raise this our sacrifice of praise.

For the joy of ear and eye, for the heart and mind's delight, for the mystic harmony linking sense to sound and sight: Christ, our God, to thee we raise this our sacrifice of praise.

For the joy of human love, brother, sister, parent, child,

friends on earth and friends above; for all gentle thoughts and mild: Christ, our God, to thee we raise this our sacrifice of praise.

For each perfect gift of thine, peace on earth and joy in heav'n;

for thyself, best gift divine, to our world so freely giv'n: Christ, our God, to thee we raise this our sacrifice of praise.

Every Day

In Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, she writes how when walk our steps with God's plan, we achieve His purposes and meet our needs.  Here's a bracelet and some yoga to remember these words:

God's plan (butterfly charm)
Our steps (feet charm)

Achieve God's purposes  (cross in heart charm)

Meets our needs  (sheep charm)

Hold a strap or interlace your fingers behind your back

Move the knuckles to a hip and pull elbows towards one another, stretch ear to the opposite shoulder

Repeat on the other side of your body

These two neck stretches remind us to listen for God's voice (telephone charm) by prayer and study (open book charm), sitting sit and quiet.
