Reindeer Games

We tuned in with listening bells!  Thumbs up as long as you hear them . . .

We warmed up our bodies by moving like the sun!


We raced our reindeers by walking the Warrior 1 Yoga Posture!

Take a deep breath and blow the Christmas Cards?!  Can you move them without collapsing?



A snow globe is a great tool to help practice being still and quiet.  Shake it up and quietly watch the flakes float slowly to the bottom. ❆❄❅

Rest and let the visions of sugar plums dance in your head!

Turn Your Grinch Around


It's easier to find your diaphragm when you are laying on your belly!  We practiced breathing like Santa . . . breathe in and fill your belly with air and then exhale with a "HO, HO, HO!"

The Grinch is frustrated with the Whos and all their singing and Christmas joy!  We stretched our side bodies for this part of the story:
So the Grinch got a truly AWFUL idea to be Santy Claus . .  .
and make his dog, Max, a reindeer!
They loaded sacks on a sleigh . . .
and headed down the mountain to Who-ville!
 The Grinch filled the sacks with Who Christmas . . . 
and took it to Mt. Crumpit to dump it!
And then the Grinch heard the Whos sing . . . 
He realized Christmas is about MORE and his πŸ’—grew three sizes!
 He sleighed down the mountain to return the Who Christmas!!πŸ“£
"And he . . . HE HIMSELF . . . ! The Grinch carved the roast beast."

 We rested by taking a trip to the North Pole . . .
We talked with Santa, fed reindeer and worked with elves!
 We wrapped our fun with Nancy Carlson's Think Happy!

Run, Walk or Cycle as FAST as You Can!

It was good for the Gingerbread Man to stretch his legs, and it's good for you too! Benefits of regular exercise include:
*improves overall fitness
*lowers risk for heart disease, stroke, dementia, diabetes, at least 12 types of cancer
*strengthens bones and muscles
*lowers risks for falls and fractures
*grows new capillaries which improve circulation
*improves arthritic symptoms
*contributes to better sleep
*good for your brain--helps with both memory and learning
*aerobic exercise can help with attention, focus, mood and emotion

We are PROBLEM SOLVERS!

Our yoga postures represented responsible problem-solving strategies today!  

Here's COMPROMISE:  Not YOUR Way, Not MY Way, OUR Way!  We're all in the same boat . . .
  IGNORE is a strategy that works for small problems!  If you don't give it attention or energy, it's likely to "go away" . . . 
 Here's a bicycle built for one, but you can do this move with a partner and SHARE a bicycle.  SHARING is one way to solve a problem and (1) Nobody gets hurt (2) Nothing gets broken.
TAKING TURNS is like being on a see-saw . . . you go, then I go, then your turn and my turn again . . .
We practiced the BUG and a WISH strategy for talking out a problem with a friend.  Here's the bug . . .
  and here's the wish!
If Rudolph knew about a BUG and a WISH, he might have said, "It bugs me when you call me names, I wish you'd call me Rudolph."  Or maybe, "It bugs me with you don't let me play, please include me in the reindeer games."
Negotiation is when you zigzag back and forth until you determine a solution that works best for all.

We rested with the Gingerbread Man:  "I am FREE.  I am FREE."
There's gonna be PROBLEMS . . . but we are PROBLEM SOLVERS!

Thankful for UNICORNS

Today we celebrated UNICORNS!  

We warmed our bodies by moving like the sunshine!



Then we moved like a unicorn,

butterfly,

flower,


and rainbow!

We wrapped our movement with a twist!


After our final relaxation story about riding on the back of a unicorn, we captured our dreams and thanksgivngs on turkey feathers!



We reminded ourselves that being thankful helps us feel better!
 
When we feel better we can take better care of ourselves, others, and the world in which we live! #yayforyoga
