It's the fourth and final part of our four part study of Liz Curtis Higg's The Women of Easter. The GOOD NEWS is the GOOD NEWS is coming on Sunday . . . the story is not over today. Here's a Restorative Yoga Practice to work today. The idea of Restorative Yoga is there is no work. You are completely supported and at rest. You are passive, restoring, with no active stretching. These poses are designed to help relax the nervous system, and the parts of the body that typically store increased tension from anxiety. If you practice these consistently, over time, you will reduce anxiety as you reprogram your body's automatic responses to stress.
In this first Resting Pose, you can use a pillow or bolster under your legs, a blanket under your head, a sandbag on your tummy, and/or eye pillow to enhance your experience. Hold for 5 minutes.
Simple Bridge with Bolster (or Block) under Hips
Hold for 5 minutes.
Belly Down Twist over Bolster
Hold for 3 minutes on each side.
Chair Forward Bend
Cross legs for 3 minutes, then change cross and hold for another 3 minutes.
Legs Up the Wall (or in a Chair) Pose with Bolster
Hold for 10 minutes.
End as you began. Hold the final Resting Pose for 10 minutes.
