My GFY's "Marvelous Mottoes" and "Quotable Quotes"
(1) My first interaction with GFY was "GFY@Home," A Self-Study Program with Mentoring ~ Through this program offered in 2010, I received the following feedback from Mira: "What struck me first when reading this was something I often say to the kids in my classes. We are already whole, already perfect. We've been raised in a society that teaches us to strive for more, better, next. But right now is all we have, and it is just what it is. We can strive AND it's important to remember that what we need is already who we are, it's already a part of us. So when you say not "there", I say you are "here"! ;-)"
(2) My second opportunity was GFY @ Home "Live" ~ Mira would discuss a topic and you could interact over the phone with an access code or download and listen later. Mira often "signed off" with "Together as a community we can achieve more, inspire others, and reveal a brighter future for all of us. This isn't just what we do, but who we are."
(3) Then I had the INCREDIBLE experience of attending sessions LIVE and IN PERSON in Chicago!!! During these trainings, I tallied the ideas Mira said you should do "every day" . . . locust, switch breath, triangle, agni sara . . . and committed to memory, "In me there is a light that lights the whole world! It radiates truth, boundless will, action and knowledge."
What GFY's "Marvelous Mottoes" and "Quotable Quotes" still ring true for YOU?❤️
Feature #5 for GFY Ohana~
What are your most effective centering strategies to begin class with young yogis? I like to use the singing bowl and listening bells. Balancing Peacock Feathers has always been a popular one. Breathing techniques work too. Does anybody have a song? Something to try when your yogis are riled up, rootin' tootin', and rambunctious from a long day of school/work? I have an after school group that sometimes are challenged with "beginning" . . . Thank you for sharing your ideas!π

Thank you so much for the opportunity to be a GFY featured member! I've enjoyed sharing memories, what I learned, and how I share with folks in my sphere of influence. I trained to work with children but have been busy sharing yoga with the "tall and the small." I find many adults enjoy the playful approach, and I have learned to appreciate the "unfolding" . . . what you thought you'd do and what you end up doing, not always the match you expect?! To borrow Mira's words, "But right now is all we have, and it is just what it is." "Here" is what is, and it is good.
