Firefly Connection

During our last yoga practice, we explored Eric Carle's The Grouchy Ladybughttps://zipadeeyoga.blogspot.com/2019/06/ladybug-yoga.html. There are fireflies at the end of the story . . . so today we read Eric Carle's The Very Lonely Firefly! Yoga helps with our loneliness.  It connects us to ourselves, others, the world, and BEYOND!

We took deep breaths to get started with our yoga practice.👃

When warming our bodies, we practiced standing strong like a mountain!⛰

The lonely firefly flashed its light to search for other fireflies, but it found . . .
a candle,

a lantern,

an owl whose eyes reflected light,

the headlights of a car,

and fireworks before it found other fireflies!

Here's how to be a firefly with your body:

We rested and then created yogART!

Here's how to make a firefly with a repurposed Easter egg:

Yoga helps us manage our "grouchies" and "lonelies."  Yoga ROCKS!

Sharing Kindness at Camp T.A.L.K.

Ready to Share Kindness at Camp T.A.L.K.

We balanced peacock feathers to remind us our yoga helps us to find balance in our bodies, brains, and heart!
It's not easy, but we can try and try again!

What are some ways to show KINDNESS?  Smiling and greeting others, listening and talking to people who may need a friend,  taking care of pets,  picking up trash, lending a helping hand to those in need

We took deep breaths to calm and begin our yoga practice.
Can you move the hands on your belly and heart when you breathe?

Next we warmed up our bodies by pretending to be a . . .
 cow🐄
and cat!🐈

We spelled KINDNESS by moving like the moon:
Extend the Mountain for the "K"

Side S-t-r-e-t-c-h for "I"

Horse Pose for "N"

Star Pose for "D"

Triangle Pose for the second "N"

Pyramid Pose for "E"

Low Crescent Lunge for "S"

Side Lunge for the second "S"

Next we shared the story of Shel Silverstein's The Giving Tree!

There is a tree and a boy in this story.

The boy climbs the tree, swings from her branches.

He eats her apples

and takes naps in her shade.

Throughout the story, the tree continues to give to the boy.
Like when she gives him her apples to sell and make money.

Here's a seated tree pose . . .

and a seated tree twist.

We are trying new things!

"May YOU be safe, healthy, and happy."
 We rested . . .
and shared one more story and song.

Plant Seeds of Kindness ⚘💙⚘💚⚘💛⚘💜⚘🧡⚘

We will create a positive change in the world when we share kindness!

"I am trying new things!"

We thought about THINKING this week at Pisgah and Platt Springs Yoga!🧠  Did you know what you think about you bring about?  When you "count your rainbows instead of your thunderstorms," you set yourself up for SUCCESS!  Here's some positive thoughts to think and make happen:
"I am friendly."
"I am patient."
"I am honest."
"I am upbeat."
"I am determined."
"I am brave."
"I am kind."
"I am energetic."
"I work hard."
"I am trying new things."

Ladybug Yoga

ALL Feelings are OK to experience. We don't look forward or like to feel unpleasant emotions, but it is normal to feel off balance from time to time . . .
How do you manage your grouchy and grumpy moments?  Try YOGA!
We rolled Yoga Dice to set up our class.
We sequenced the dice and then worked our yoga practice!
Chair Pose strengthens ankles, thighs, calves, and spine. It stretches chest and shoulders.  It's especially beneficial for those of us with flat feet!🦶
Tree Pose stretches your legs, body and shoulders.  It strengthens ankles, calves, and tones the tummy.  Balancing postures, like tree pose, improve your focus and concentration skills.🧠
Butterfly Pose stretches inner thighs, hips, and low back.🦋
Bow Pose works the muscles in your back, stomach, arms, and legs.  It stretches your throat, chest, arms, stomach, hips, thighs, and ankles.  When you bend your back, you activate spinal nerves, increase circulation, and strengthen the entire length of the spine.🏹
We rested in a garden filled with ladybugs!
 Making ladybugs . . .
made us S-M-I-L-E!☺
Find your happy with Ladybug Yoga!🐞
