Spooky Yoga Fun

Elevator Partner Pose
for the poem, "The Ghost in Our Apartment House"๐Ÿ‘ป

We had fun with Lilian Moore's Spooky Rhymes and Riddles today!๐ŸŽƒ

We took turns reading and then working a corresponding yoga pose.
Here's a limerick about a dragon's whose hot breath popped corn for children so we are working "dragon pose."๐Ÿฒ

Johnny drew a monster! When the monster began to chase, he ERASED him!

When you move from "down dog" to "plank" and back to "down dog," it's kind of like working an eraser back and forth.

What creeps behind you and doesn't make a sound?
Your SHADOW!

What would a monster's pet look like?

We tried octopus pose to illustrate!๐Ÿ™

"Something is there on the stair . . . "
We worked "zigzag breathing" for our staircase.

We rocked our ghost babies to sleep.

Then we rested too.๐Ÿ˜ด

It was challenging to focus today after we discovered our socks stick to the brick wall . . .

YogART Field Trip

We met at the Columbia Museum of Art today!
https://www.columbiamuseum.org/view/van-gogh-and-his-inspirations will be at the Columbia Museum of Art -- October 4, 2019-January 12, 2020.
Flower Beds in Holland is Van Gogh's first garden painting, c. 1883.  Van Gogh came to art late and left it early.  Van Gogh didn't start painting until age 27.  He created almost 900 works of art before his death at age 37.  That's an average of two per week.  Twelve of his works are included in the special exhibition.

Van Gogh's first works were dark and gloomy.
 Beef Cart, c. 1884
 Man with a Spade, Resting, c. 1882
Head of Peasant Woman with Dark Cap, c. 1882
He often painted common folk and poor peasants.

When he discovered Japanese prints, he liked the lighter colors.  He then explored more colors in his works.  We studied Hokusai, a Japanese printmaker and painter, during our yoga this past week.  Hokusai, 1760-1849, changed his name 30 times!   The name on his gravestone translates, "Old Man Mad About Drawing."

Van Gogh wished "to touch people through art." In 1885, Van Gogh stated, "People will surely recognize my work later on and write about me when I am dead and gone."

"I always knew he would either surpass us all or end up a madman.  I never thought he would do both." ~Camille Pissaro

I Am Enough

We used a visual schedule to organize our class this afternoon! Thank you, Global Family Yoga, for sharing your good ideas.๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿง˜

We read The Warrior Princess by D.L. Murphy!

Mrs. Broam heard Mrs. Murphy tell this story in a yoga class.๐Ÿ˜

We breathed like a flower:  Inhale BLOOM, Exhale and fold your "flower petals"⚘

The frog told the Warrior Princess she was not the "right color."๐Ÿธ

The lion directed the Warrior Princess to look into the lake to find the answer to her question.๐Ÿฆ

We rested.

We shared what we saw in the lake!

Namaste is what we say from the good in you to the good in me!๐Ÿ™

Say, "Namaste," everyday, and the world ๐ŸŒŽ will live . . .

in harmony!๐Ÿ•Š

Warrior ON!

What is a WARRIOR?
Someone engaged in a struggle or conflict--one who fights with courage and skill.
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you know!

Warrior 1

Warrior 2

Warrior 3

Humble Warrior

Peaceful Warrior

Horton Hatches, Mayzie is Lazy, and We are On the Move!

We shared Dr. Seuss' Horton Hatches an Egg at today's yoga!๐Ÿง˜

Mayzie talked Horton the elephant into sitting on her egg!๐Ÿฅš

Then she flew to Palm Beach for vacation?!๐Ÿ–

Horton persevered through the rain . . .

AND when other animals made fun on him, like the giraffes.๐Ÿฆ’

The hunters captured Horton and the egg!๐Ÿน

They transported Horton and the egg by boat!๐Ÿ›ฅ

Horton and the egg were displayed in the Circus Tent.๐ŸŽช

The flag waved on top of the Circus Tent!๐Ÿšฉ

THE EGG HATCHED!  We practiced being an "elephant bird!"๐Ÿ˜[https://www.verywellfit.com/elephants-trunk-pose-eka-hasta-bhujasana-3567043]

We concluded with resting in the jungle with Horton, Mayzie, and other animal friends!
